6,500 participants enjoy light spectacle during 4th edition Zandvoort Light Walk

A magical time travel through illuminated Zandvoort

On Saturday evening, Zandvoort was transformed into an open-air museum for the fourth time during the Zandvoort Light Walk. 6,500 participants headed to the seaside resort for an enchanting evening walk full of light splendor. The routes of 6.5, 10, 14, and 18 km took the walkers past a sea of light artworks and surprising acts. For the Diabetes Fonds, the event's charity, a wonderful amount of €6,300 was raised.

The theme 'A journey through time' came to life in dozens of places in the village with light artworks depicting the past and the future. Participants walked past impressive scenes, from nostalgic settings to futuristic creations that stimulated the imagination. This time travel was enhanced by street theater, light projections, and special acts, all fully in theme. For example, an impressive animation was projected onto the tower of the St. Agatha Church, exploring the infinity of time and space, letting participants feel like they were in the universe for a moment.

That the Zandvoort Light Walk is a real experience for everyone was proven again this year. From 300 young walkers under 10 years old to nearly 250 participants aged 70 and older, everyone joined in. Just like the last edition, the 10 km route was the most popular, with 2,150 participants. The sold-out Family Walk followed closely behind with 2,000 walkers.

Shining routes and walkers
Under a dry but chilly evening sky, the starting signal sounded at 5:45 PM on the Louis Davids Carré for the 4th edition of the Zandvoort Light Walk. The walkers enjoyed an enchanting spectacle of light that stretched through the atmospheric center of the coastal town, over the dunes, along the beach and the sea, and finally over the iconic Circuit Zandvoort.

Not only did the light artworks bring Zandvoort to life last night; participants and residents also provided extra magic. At the start, walkers received a cap with a light, which was widely worn and further enhanced the light spectacle. In addition, walkers brought extra lighting themselves and decorated themselves with glowing accessories. Together, the walkers formed a festive chain of lights that wound through Zandvoort from the late afternoon until midnight. The residents also contributed to the enchanting atmosphere: houses and gardens were festively lit, and cozy music played along the route.

€6,300 for Diabetes Fonds
For the 4th edition of the Zandvoort Light Walk, participants walked for a new charity: Diabetes Fonds. Upon registration, walkers could make a donation or raise money themselves for the charity. The check was presented prior to the start. The check showed a wonderful amount of €6,300.

The 5th edition of the Zandvoort Light Walk is scheduled on the walking calendar for Saturday, January 31, 2026. Would you like to enjoy a fun walking event in Zandvoort even sooner?
