Light art, acts and street theater transform Zandvoort into an open-air museum on February 17th

3rd edition Zandvoort Light Walk brings 6,700 walkers to the coastal village on Saturday 17 February

The dark winter evening will disappear like snow in the sun on Saturday 17 February when Zandvoort will be decorated with the most beautiful light artworks, fire acts, and surprising street theater. The routes of 6, 10, 14, and 18 km will take the 6,700 participants through the bustling center of the seaside resort, across the beach, along the sea, and the dunes. Of course, the iconic circuit with special light and sound effects cannot be missed in the routes.

The Zandvoort Light Walk is more than just a walking event. It is a walking experience that will amaze young and old(er) along four routes. This year, a record number of 6,700 participants will be at the start, including 2,000 participants of the 6 km Family Walk. This distance, which is on the program especially for families with children, sold out early.

Walkers from all over the country will travel to Zandvoort on Saturday 17 February to enjoy a sea of light artworks. Many participants also come from the immediate region of the seaside resort, and participants from Germany, Belgium, and France, among others, will be at the start.

Zandvoort as a backdrop and as a theme
To stimulate the experience of all walkers from young to old even more, a theme has been added to the 3rd edition. The walkers will be surprised at dozens of locations along the routes by light art, fire acts, sound objects, and street theater in the theme of Naturally Zandvoort.

With the seaside resort as the backdrop of the walking experience, the theme was also chosen close to home. The participants will walk along all the natural places that are so characteristic of the seaside resort and which are now literally and figuratively highlighted: the beach, the sea, and the dunes. But of course, Naturally Zandvoort also stands for what else Zandvoort has to offer with its cozy center, local catering and associations, and the world-famous circuit.

Contribute to even more atmosphere
The organization of the Zandvoort Light Walk calls on all participants to appear at the start decorated with lights. It is always a fantastic sight to see all the walkers dressed up with lights in the starting area. It is even more fun to see the luminous ribbon of participants walking through the streets and across the beach of Zandvoort.

The residents of Zandvoort can also help to enhance the walking experience and make the coastal village even more atmospheric. Sports organization Le Champion asks everyone who lives along the routes of the Zandvoort Light Walk to decorate houses and gardens with lights. This way, participants and residents can make it one big walking festival together. The overview of the streets where the participants walk past can be found at www.zandvoortlightwalk.nl/bewoners.

Cheque for KNRM Zandvoort
In the 3rd edition as well, the local rescue station of KNRM Zandvoort is connected to the event as a charity. The volunteers of the KNRM will be present during the Zandvoort Light Walk together with their mascot Rinus Redder and the lifeboat decorated with lights.

Upon their registration, many walkers made a voluntary donation to benefit the Zandvoort rescue society. The cheque will be presented to the KNRM shortly before the first start.
