Zandvoort is bathed in light on 15 February during the Zandvoort Light Walk

6,500 walkers head to Zandvoort for light spectacle

A winter walking spectacle full of light art, acts, and street theater is on the agenda for Saturday evening, February 15. 6,500 walkers will experience an enchanting evening walking tour during the 4th edition of the Zandvoort Light Walk. The various routes of 18, 14, 10, and the Family Walk of 6.5 km lead the participants along a sea of light artworks. Regardless of the distance, every participant walks through the bustling center of Zandvoort, across the beach, along the sea and dunes, and over the iconic Circuit Zandvoort.

This coming weekend, the Zandvoort Light Walk will start at the Louis Davids Carré, right in the bustling heart of Zandvoort. The 6,500 participants will spread over the four different routes, guided by light art. The Family Walk, especially for families with children, is the shortest distance with 2,000 participants and was sold out early again this year.

Participants from all over the country will be immersed in light art. But walkers from outside the Netherlands are also traveling to the seaside resort. While most participants come from the Netherlands, almost 100 walkers from Germany are participating. In addition, the organization also welcomes participants from France, Italy, and Georgia.

A journey through time
For the second year in a row, the Zandvoort Light Walk is centered around a theme. The theme of the 4th edition is 'A journey through time'. Participants will experience a journey through the past and the future, surrounded by light art, fire acts, sound objects, and street theater completely immersed in the theme. Walking through atmospherically lit streets, dunes, and iconic locations, participants are taken past impressive creations. Each artwork tells a story: from images reminiscent of the past to creations that make you dream about the future.

Let Zandvoort shine
Not only the light artworks illuminate the winter evening, but participants and residents also contribute to the open-air museum of light. Decorated with lights and luminous accessories, walkers form a beautiful ribbon moving through the seaside resort. Therefore, the organization calls on all participants to appear radiant at the start.

Residents can also do their part. Sports organization Le Champion invites everyone along the route to decorate houses and gardens with lights. This way, Zandvoort becomes one big illuminated walking festival, where participants and residents strengthen the magic of the evening together. The overview of the streets along the route can be found at www.zandvoortlightwalk.nl/bewoners.

Cheque for the Diabetes Fonds
During the 4th edition of the Zandvoort Light Walk, participants walk for a new charity: Diabetes Fonds. Upon registration, many walkers made a voluntary donation or raised money themselves for important diabetes research. The cheque will be presented to the Diabetes Fonds just before the first start.
