Zandvoort Light Walk remains highly popular: already over 5,000 registrations

Registration still possible until 19 January

Interest in the Zandvoort Light Walk is high again this year. More than 5,000 walkers have already registered for the evening walking event on 31 January, and several start waves are completely sold out. For the fifth consecutive time, Zandvoort transforms into a walking light decor full of light art, street theatre, and acts spread across four routes. Registration is possible until 19 January, or until the participant limit is reached.

With routes of 18 km, 14 km, 10 km, and the Family Walk of 6.5 km, there is a suitable distance for every walker. The popularity of the shorter distances is striking: the 10 km currently has over 1,500 participants, and the Family Walk is already 70% sold out. The city of Haarlem brings the highest percentage of walkers to Zandvoort, over 8 percent.

Beautifully illuminated routes
Walkers start their adventure at the lively Louis Davids Carré. Regardless of the chosen distance, all participants walk through the centre of the seaside resort, along the boulevard, the beach, and the iconic Circuit Zandvoort. Those who take on the challenge of the longest distance of 18 km will enjoy the largest number of light artworks and will be thoroughly amazed along the way. Along the route, participants pass stamping stations with extensive care, where they can pause and refuel. The finish is at the Kleine Krocht, where a cozy finish party awaits.

New theme: Water World
This year, the Zandvoort Light Walk is again dedicated to a theme. In honour of the 200th anniversary of the seaside resort, the theme of the 5th edition is: Water World. The route leads past light art and acts that creatively interpret this theme. From dancing waves to glittering sea creatures and graceful mermaids. Let yourself be carried away by a stream of light and wonder while Zandvoort transforms into a sparkling ocean for one evening.

Walking for charity
For the 5th edition of the Zandvoort Light Walk, KNRM Zandvoort is the official charity. The volunteer rescuers of the KNRM are ready 24/7 to head out when someone gets into trouble at sea. The rescue operations are free of charge and are fully made possible by donations and gifts. Participants can make a voluntary contribution upon registration that benefits the Zandvoort rescue society, so that they can continue to do what they do best: saving lives.

Registration
Will you walk along a sea of light artworks on Saturday 31 January? Register for 6.5, 10, 14, or 18 km at www.zandvoortlightwalk.nl. Registration is open until 19 January or until the participant limit is reached.
