Zandvoort Light Walk celebrates anniversary with one-off extra starting slots

This coming Saturday evening, Zandvoort will once again be in the spotlight during the 5th edition of the Zandvoort Light Walk. The winter walking spectacle takes participants past light art, acts, and street theater over routes of 18, 14, 10, or 6.5 km. In honor of the 200th anniversary of the seaside resort and the 5th anniversary of the event, sports organization Le Champion is opening its doors one more time. Starting tomorrow, Wednesday, January 28, a one-off 205 extra starting tickets will be available. The anniversary promotion runs until Friday, January 30, or as long as the extra starting tickets are available. 

From the Louis Davids Carré, in the bustling heart of Zandvoort, walkers will start their enchanting evening walking tour. Four different routes take them through the center of the coastal town, across the beach, through the dunes, and over the iconic Circuit Zandvoort. Along the route, light art points the way and entertainment provides atmosphere and surprise. The finish line is at the Kleine Krocht, where participants are welcomed with a cozy finish party. 

The Zandvoort Light Walk attracts walkers from all over the country and beyond. In addition to thousands of Dutch participants, the organization also welcomes over 60 walkers from Germany this year, along with participants from Belgium, Poland, and Finland. 

Theme: Water World
This year's Zandvoort Light Walk is also completely dedicated to a theme: Water World. The route leads past light art and acts that creatively reflect this theme. From dancing waves to glistening sea creatures and graceful mermaids. Let yourself be carried away by a stream of light and wonder while Zandvoort transforms into a sparkling ocean for one evening.

Make Zandvoort shine
It is not just the light artworks that create atmosphere; participants and residents also play a leading role. With luminous accessories, the walkers together form a brilliant ribbon through the seaside resort. The organization calls on participants to appear at the start shining brightly.
Residents along the route are also invited to participate by decorating houses and gardens with lights. In this way, Zandvoort becomes one big illuminated walking festival, where participants and residents strengthen the magic of the evening together. Cheque for KNRM Zandvoort  
During this anniversary edition, participants walk for KNRM Zandvoort. Upon registration, many walkers made a voluntary donation that benefits the Zandvoort rescue society. The cheque will be presented to KNRM shortly after the first start.
